Indeed it is difficult to predict the ultimate place of the computer in our world. It is the express purpose of Upsilon Pi Epsilon to promote the Computing Sciences and to encourage its contribution to the enhancement of knowledge.

American Geological Institute (AGI)
AGI is a nonprofit federation of 42 geoscientific and professional associations that represents more than 100,000 geologists, geophysicists, and other earth scientists. Founded in 1948, AGI provides information services to geoscientists, serves as a voice of shared interests in our profession, plays a major role in strengthening geoscience education, and strives to increase public awareness of the vital role the geosciences play in society's use of resources and interaction with the environment. The AGI education site includes online curricular resources, professional development, conferences, awards, scholarships, career information, and links to standards.

American Geophysical Union (AGU)
AGU is a worldwide scientific community that advances, through unselfish cooperation in research, the understanding of Earth and space for the benefit of humanity. The AGU education site includes education briefs and information on the heads/chairs of earth science departments, research grants, and student travel grants.

American Mathematical Society (AMS)
Founded in 1888 to further mathematical research and scholarship, the American Mathematical Society fulfills its mission through programs and services that promote mathematical research and its uses, strengthen mathematical education, and foster awareness and appreciation of mathematics and its connections to other disciplines and to everyday life. The Society has over 28,000 individual members and 550 institutional members in the United States and around the world. Programs and services for AMS members and the mathematical community include professional programs such as meetings and conferences, surveys, employment services; publications including Mathematical Reviews (a database of nearly 2 million items covering over 60 years of mathematics literature), journals, and over 3,000 books in print; support for Young Scholars Programs and the Mathematical Moments program of the Public Awareness Office. The AMS outreach site contains information for students and educators, as well as academic directories, surveys and articles on mathematics education.

American Physical Society
The American Physical Society was founded on May 20, 1899, when 36 physicists gathered at Columbia University for that purpose. They proclaimed the mission of the new Society to be "to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics", and in one way or another the APS has been at that task ever since.

Geological Society of America (GSA)
The Geological Society of America provides access to elements that are essential to the professional growth of earth scientists at all levels of expertise and from all sectors: academic, government, business, and industry.

Kappa Mu Epsilon - Mathematics Honor Society
KAPPA MU EPSILON is a specialized honor society in Mathematics. KME was founded in 1931 to promote the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students. Its chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing which offer a strong mathematics major. The chapters' members are selected from students of mathematics and other closely related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit, and have attained academic distinction. Both men and women are eligible for membership.

Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM)
Problems in applied mathematics and computational science arise in companies that manufacture aircraft, automobiles, engines, textiles, computers, communications systems, chemicals, drugs, and a host of other industrial and consumer products, and also in various service and consulting organizations. They also arise in many research initiatives of the federal government, such as those in global change, biotechnology, and advanced materials. SIAM fosters the development of the methodologies needed in these application areas. It is fitting that the acronym SIAM also represents the society's slogan-Science and Industry Advance with Mathematics.
